Frequently Asked Questions
About Deepiks
What does Deepiks do?
Deepiks is an applied AI lab. We work on four questions: agentic AI, voice AI, sovereign AI and collaborative AI. We build prototypes, test them with real people and turn the ones that hold up into products, our own or with partners. We also publish mobile apps on the App Store and Google Play, in which an assistant understands what people ask for, by voice or text, and gets things done for them while they stay in control.
Why do you call yourselves a lab?
Because we would rather explore a few questions in depth than lock ourselves into one market too early. We have built products on every wave of AI, from computer vision to chatbots and generative AI; working as a lab is how we keep doing that. More about us.
What happened to the Deepiks gen AI platform?
We have discontinued our generative AI aggregator platform, which gave access to many AI models and agents through a single subscription, to focus on our lab work. Those subscriptions and credits are no longer sold. If you have a question about a former account, write to support@deepiks.io.
Who is behind Deepiks?
Deepiks is a French AI company, a société par actions simplifiée incubated at École Polytechnique and based in Paris-Saclay.
Agentic apps
What is an agentic app?
A classic app gives people a set of screens and lets them find their way through. An agentic app takes the goal in plain words (“move my dentist to Friday morning and tell Léa”) and carries out the steps itself: it finds the appointment, changes it, drafts the message and asks before sending it.
How is that different from a chatbot?
A chatbot answers. An agent acts. Behind the conversation, the assistant runs a loop: it understands the request, plans the steps, uses the app’s own tools (a calendar, a list, a message, a device, an API) to carry them out, then checks in with you. It shows what it did as cards you can check or undo.
Does the assistant do things without asking me?
Not for anything that matters. It asks for your confirmation before important actions, like sending a message or making a purchase, and keeps a visible trail of what it has done. It can only use the features and data you have given the app permission to access.
Can I use it by voice?
Yes. Our apps are designed voice first: you can talk to the assistant and it answers out loud, which helps when your hands are busy. Text is always available as well. The microphone is only active when you ask the assistant to listen.
Can the assistant be wrong?
Yes. AI models can misunderstand a request or give an inaccurate answer. That’s why the assistant asks before important actions and shows what it did. Check anything that matters, and don’t rely on it in an emergency.
Privacy and data
Where is my data stored?
The back end of our apps is hosted on Google Cloud in the Paris region, in France. As a French company, we apply the GDPR and French data protection law.
What data do the apps use?
Only what a task needs: your account details, your requests to the assistant, the preferences it remembers for you, and the data from your phone (calendar, contacts, location…) that you choose to share. You can review and delete what the assistant remembers. Our Privacy Policy gives the details.
Is my data used to train AI models?
No. We don’t use your data to train AI models, we don’t sell it, and we don’t use it for advertising.
How do I delete my data?
You can delete your account, and the data that goes with it, from the app’s settings, or by writing to contact@deepiks.io. You can also exercise all your GDPR rights at that address.
Working with Deepiks
Can we work with the lab?
Yes. We work with companies and organisations that have a use case worth exploring, in industry, health, public services or consumer apps. We start by finding where AI actually helps, and where it doesn’t, then build a prototype in a few weeks and try it in real conditions. If it holds up, we build it properly with your team. Tell us about your project.
Can it run on our own infrastructure?
That is one of the questions we work on. Depending on the use case, models can run in the cloud, on your own servers (on-premise) or on the device itself (on-device), so sensitive data doesn’t have to leave your control.
Which platforms do you build for?
Mobile apps on iOS and Android, voice interfaces, and back ends that connect agents to your own services and APIs.
